Monthly Highlights Update: September 2024

It's now September and as we enter the first month of Autumn, it comes the time to update our monthly highlights!

Last month, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the 1994 release of Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe (and coincidentally the band's hugely anticipated reunion), by looking at three of the greatest Brit-pop albums. Featured, was Blur's Parklife, Oasis' second effort, What's The Story? (Morning Glory) and the Verve's album, Urban Hymns.

Well we hope you like the 1990s, because this month we are sticking around! In September 1994, a world away from gloomy Manchester, Brooklyn based Christopher Wallace released a debut album that would forever change the genre of East Coast hip-hop. You probably know him better as The Notorious B.I.G, and Ready to Die was not only his debut album, it was also the only studio album released during his lifetime, before his death in 1997.

To celebrate the huge impact of The Notorious B.I.G on the East-Coast hip-hop scene, we are focusing on three early '90s East-Coast hip-hop albums, which along with Ready to Die, helped shape the genre that would take the music industry by storm. Head on over to the home page to check them out!
